What is a Computerized Database?

A computerized database is an organized collection of information in a computer format.

  • Computerized databases are made up of records and fields.
  • Every book or article within a database has its own record.
  • The smaller pieces of information within the record, like the author and the title and the subjects, are called fields. In the database below every field is labelled.
