Using Windows 95 Windows 95 is a Graphical User Interface (GUI-pronounced Gooey) operating system. An operating system, known as an OS, is software that makes everything in the computer work together smoothly and efficiently. Basically, it controls the overall activity of a computer. The operating system is always running when your computer is on. Depending on the way your computer is set up you may have to type your user name and password to log on.
