It's better to limit the information to HTTP-served documents than to limit
it to HTML documents. Am I wrong?

Why?

Ism't it possible to just have a pointer to a URC or somthing similar,
and keep the metadata separate from the document itself as much as possible?
I think that would make maintenance a lot easier.

Mixing information *about* a document in with the HTML source *in* the
document seems a bad idea to me.

All IMHO of course :-)
