robots, what else!

I've recently inherited a not-quite-ready-for-prime-time robot
written in perl with the perl www library. It does seems to respect
robot exclusion at least.

I was wondering if proven robots are available for download
anywhere, or is this purely a do-it-yourself matter?

I run on Win95 and Unix platforms, and would be interested in
a robot written in C, since my perl is not so great. But perl has its
advantages, and I'm interested in them as well.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
