Take a look at the peregrinator robot, and the database
on mathematically oriented resources. (You could find the URL on
the list of active robots) The database is created exactly the way
someone else pointed out here earlier by indexing
a specified set of servers. It's maintainer also tries to make
sure that the webmasters on the sites disallows the robot to
index parts of their servers that don't contain information on
mathematics. I haven't really tested the service but a few
searches gave highly relevant information.
