robots on an intranet

I'm working on an article on this subject for Network World's
intranet supplement. I'd be interested in talking to anybody who has
installed a spider/search system on their corporate or enterprise net
about the hows and whys and about any particular issues or challenges
you had to deal with. I'm also interested in the management side of
it - if you have dozens or hundreds of servers on your network, how
do you deal with file and directory permissions and the like?

If I get enough responses, or if anybody's interested, I can post a
summary to the list (or on our Web site).

Thanks!
