file retrieval

hi, I'm new to this list. And the reason I joined is becasue I need to
automate a file retrieval process from a web site. This sites requires a
login with a user name and password before the retrieval is allowed. (I
already have an account)

I was wondering if anybody new how I maight best accomplish this task
using a robot. Robots are new to me, so please keep the comments at a
beginner level.

Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
