Email Composition An email account is composed of two parts: username and server name. If you send mail through the post office, you have to have an address identifying the person and where to find this person. The same is true with email. The username identifies a particular user and the server name identifies the machine (post office) that the email will be stored on until the user retrieves the email. Thus, when you give someone your email address it will be in the form:
