To quote Sherlock Holmes, "There is nothing new under the sun - it has all
been done before". Look at the old pathalias software - it did much the
same thing for UUCP.

One of the biggest reasons is that the domain isn't accessible to the
outside world. Another reason might be that the database of indexed web
pages must be updated on a more regular basis than Alta Vista does.
